I did a search for smog check facilities by my work, near San Jose Int’l Airport. I was willing to travel up to 20 miles for a well reviewed shop but saw Smog Hut was highly rated and very close.

Five stars. Fast, friendly, efficient. I went there 2 years ago for a smog check and again this year after my mom took it to a place in the East Bay that was super unfriendly and way more expensive. It had failed smog due to an engine code (which was later reset and never reappeared). My tags were about to expire and I happened to be in SanJose one day so I decided to stop by this place. I forgot dude’s name but I explained to him the problems I had been having and he said he’d scan the computer before running the smog test and it passed! Yay.

Called in last minute for a smog check during my lunch break. I was expecting to wait 30-45 minutes but was in and out in 20!!

I’ve been here twice to have my car smogged. Each time was a great experience. The owner is very professional and nice. They offer DMV services too so you can get your registration tags without going to the DMV.

This past time I tried going to a different smog station the day before because Smog Hut Star Station was already closed for the day. The other place told me my car would automatically fail and they refused to test it! Came here the very next day and they were able to pass my car just fine. I would give them six stars if I could, never going anywhere else.

found this place by google search “star smog check” and after checking the yelp reviews (thanks yelpers!) and noting their coupon I took my car in this morning.

I was in and out within 15mins, and the gentleman who helped me was courteous and most kind. The waiting room is fun with the fish, but of course its not going to be some chic fun place – its a smog shop! They did have netflix on the TV but nothing was playing (sadness) but you do get a strong cell connection here so playing games or surfing the net on your phone is good to go.

Very fast and pleasant experience, if I need this kind of smog test again I’ll definitely come back.
